Bais Yaakov Bnos Malka
Bais Yaakov Bnos Malka is the destination for most new olim, and children of olim, who wish to integrate into the broader chareidi world in Eretz Yisroel. BYBM welcomes families and their daughters who are seeking to grow in Torah and Yiras Shomayim, and adhere to the directives of the Daas Torah of the Gedolei Hador, shlit”a. We are identified as a chareidi elementary school in terms of our policies, and hashkafa, with an understanding of the unique needs and culture of the "chutznik population." Our Posek and Rav, Harav Elimelech Kornfeld, shlit”a, is constantly available to us for shailos and eitza.
Our lessons are designed to maximally engage the child, and skills are built in a developmentally appropriate fashion. Teachers work together to integrate both skills and content in both the Kodesh, and general studies curriculum, (Program director, Batya Markowitz), which follow all the directives of the Ministry of Education.
Rabbi Yehuda Copperman ZT"L, and Dr. Devorah Rosenwaser were and are, among the academic advisors to the school. They have enabled the staff to access the Michlalah Jerusalem College faculty and facilities.
Our exemplary Ivrit program takes into account that another language aside from Hebrew is the mother tongue of most of the students, including the girls born in Eretz Yisroel. Thus, our instruction of all Hebrew language subjects is skilled-based, and rigorous. We build skills from the bottom up, which is the best way to build language skills and acquisition. All of this is accomplished in a warm, supportive, and creative environment (Please contact us so that we can share our Hebrew enrichment programs with you).
Instruction of all classes is in Ivrit, with the exception of our high level Englsh program (program director, Miriam Magedman). Our graduates are considered to be amongst the top students, both in their stellar middos, and academics, in the various Bais Yaakov High schools they attend. Our students get among the highest grades in RBS in many of the Israeli standardized tests, and high school entrance exams- including Torah, Math (Program Director, Geula Zohar) and Ivrit (program Director, Tzofia Akeda).
We attribute some of the success that the girls achieve in conversational Ivrit, to the fact that most conversations and game playing that occur during our supervised recesses take place in Hebrew, as well as to our non- "sink or swim" approach, which lessens anxiety and negativity towards adapting to a new language and culture.
Our unique Ulpan Program (Program director- Baila (Orlowek) Finkelstien), helps our new olim adapt to a new educational system, prepare for classes, and learn Ivrit. They have special social programs, and support groups for the moms. The individual attention that the girls get from our trained professionals helps the girls thrive and adapt.
Our preschool program is second to none (Program Director, Attara Waxman)
Bais Yaakov Bnos Malkas Preschool takes an integrative, project approach (modified reggio), and child-centered approach, to early childhood education.
Bais Yaakov Bnos Malka emphasizes exemplary Midos Tovos and respect for all of the Jewish nation. The school strives to achieve these goals via social skills and Ahavas Yisroel programs, and by ensuring that the entire staff serves as proper role models. The administration and staff inculcate in the students a sense of respect for all Torah observant communities. Furthermore, they convey Kavod HaTorah for all Gedolei Yisrael. Harav Noach Orlowek, shlit”a, is consulted for our chinuch questions.
There are many special extra-curricular programs that are integral parts of the school’s weekly schedule. Art, physical activity, trips, and special social activity programs surrounding our yearly theme ( this year out theme is Middos, last year was Kavod, before that was Shmitta..), are integral parts of the curriculum. There are extracurricular classes offered after the school day.
